Additional Artists A-F & Exhibitions'11: Linda Brenner & Judy Gelles
LINDA BRENNER, with a BFA in sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design, and JUDY GELLES, who has a MFA in photography also from Rhode Island School of Design, are working together to create an interactive installation in the Project Room. Entitled “Hopes and Fears”, the installation features, fingerprints and texts, which the artists gathered from a daylong residency at the “Welcome House” at the Love Park in Philadelphia on October 10, 2009, reflecting the hopes and fears of our time. This project was also based on a study conducted in 1971 by Albert H. Cantril and Charles W. Roll, “Hopes and Fears of the American People”. Gelles is featured in many important public and private collections, both nationally and internationally. She has published several books, and received numerous grants, awards, and residencies. Brenner exhibits widely, and recently received the Leeway Foundation WOO award, and a Pennsylvania council on the arts SOS grant.
