The work explores visual relations and ways of seeing. It presents objects and their images as both static and in flux, developing the interaction between objects and images in a transitional space.
Julie York received her BFA from the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, Vancouver, BC and her MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY. Her work was included in numerous national exhibitions and in the permanent collections: Schein Joseph International Museum of Art Alfred, NY; Burchfield Penny Art Center. York is the recipient of a number of grants: PEW Fellowship, Pew Fellowship in the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; the Independence Foundation Fellowship in the Arts from the independence Foundation; and more.
